Pollinator show opens July 16th

This image of sunflowers took second place in the Tecumseh Land Trust Pollinator Art Show.

My image of sunflowers took second place in the professional category in the Tecumseh Land Trust’s Pollinator Contest, so I was invited to participate in the Pollinator Art Show. Getting an image ready for the show, though, was a bit more of a challenge than I expected.

Opening reception on Sunday, July 16th from 5:00-7:00pm at The Winds Cafe, 215 Xenia Ave., Yellow Springs, OH 45387. The show runs from July 3rd through September 3rd.

I decided that a metal print would be a good solution. The thought was shiny metal would complement the bright yellows, greens and blues in the image. While I’ve not done a substantial number of prints on a metal surface,  the ones I have done turned out spectacularly.

Not this time. I ordered a metal print from my usual color lab. When it arrived, I was terribly disappointed. The colors were desaturated and the image lacked the pop that I was achieving on my home Epson printer.

With time running out, I implemented Plan B, ordering a print from another lab. This one, fortunately, came out as expected. Meanwhile the first lab and I have had an exchange of emails regarding their quality. While I’ve been happy with their work in the past, it didn’t work out too well this time.

Anyway, I’d like to invite you to the opening reception. I’ve seen some of the winners, and there are some great images to be enjoyed.
